Amy first encountered Haiti in 2002 on a mission trip and then visited again while serving in the Dominican Republic. Amy returned to help train short-term mission team leaders for post-quake relief efforts. During that trip she met their son, Cowen, who was abandoned at a local children’s hospital. Throughout the two-year adoption process and multiple visits, Amy fell in love with the Haitian people, cultures and traditions.
In addition to Cowen, Amy and her husband Matt are parents to two very active 6 year olds, Asa and Bennett, and have five cats, two dogs , and a bearded dragon, leaving absolutely no time for any hobbies. Amy also works in administration for Northwest United Methodist Church and Circle of Hope Church, and as a wedding officiant for Wows and Vows.
